Draft MasterPlan Events

April 9th, 2009

21-25 April, The North Town Community Base

First Wessex Housing Group is inviting all residents and interested parties to attend some more drop in events at the North Town Base from 21-25 April to view the Draft MasterPlan for the £100 million regeneration scheme of 500 homes in the North Town area of Aldershot. As well as seeing the Draft MasterPlan for the area, residents and community groups will be invited to choose options and comment on the topics of interest concerning My North Town.

The Draft MasterPlan is the result of feedback from residents and community groups from the Community Involvement Week last month and individual meetings with residents and stakeholders that have taken place since the launch of the project in February.

Hazel Warwick, Group Regeneration and Development Director for First Wessex Housing Group says:

We would like to thank everybody who attended our Drop In events and meetings last month.  We have received a lot of support for our ideas and the   feedback provided on our detailed questionnaire has been invaluable – we received almost 200 completed questionnaires in total.  In addition, we have now met individually with all but 50 of the affected residents in the My North Town area and hope to meet everyone by the middle of this month, including leaseholders.

Our Design Team is currently analysing the feedback from the questionnaires and the individual meetings and is preparing a Draft MasterPlan to be shown to everyone at the events the end of the month.

It was agreed that residents generally liked the “Vision” exhibition of the area and most of the discussions have centred around the timing of the different construction phases, concern for older people on the estate, security of the area, traffic issues, community facilities, play areas and parking.

Another result of the questionnaires and individual meetings, has been the development of an Update to the Frequently Asked Questions for residents. All residents have received their personal copy of these and the leaflet can be downloaded from the website www.mynorthtown.net. A second newsletter was also circulated to residents and this too can be downloaded from the website.

The Draft MasterPlan drop in events at The North Town Base are on:

Tuesday 21 April 5 pm – 8.30 pm
Wednesday 22 April 9 am – 4 pm
Thursday 23 April 5 pm – 8.30 pm
Friday 24 April 9 am – 4 pm
Saturday 25 April 9 am – 4 pm

With a separate session planned for tenants of our Alma House older persons’ housing scheme. Everyone is welcome and you can drop in at any time during the times above.

A Freephone Enquiry line has also been set up and residents and interested parties can call 0800 258 0459 with any queries they have or visit the website www.mynorthtown.net
