Thumbs Up to Draft Masterplan
First Wessex Housing Group is very pleased with the high level of interest and participation of residents at last week’ drop in events at the North Town Base to view the Draft MasterPlan for the £100 million regeneration scheme of 500 homes in the North Town area of Aldershot.
Over 275 people attended the events and generally responded positively to the plan and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the new properties. Most residents were anxious to find out when the proposals would affect them and when they were likely to move – for over half of the residents on the estate it will be at least four years before they are directly affected.
First Wessex is currently analysing the individual feedback in detail and will be able to provide a detailed summary of the main issues within a few weeks. It is planning a resident newsletter responding to specific queries from residents, leaseholders and other community group.
Hazel Warwick, Group Development Director for First Wessex Housing Group says
“We are very pleased at how well the Draft MasterPlan has been received by residents and thank them for their continued participation. We hope to be able to respond to specific areas of interest and concerns shortly and to produce a final MasterPlan for consultation by the end of May.
“Our proposal to create a series of small courts or squares with a range of housing types overlooking an open space was very well received and residents were reassured about the sizes of the proposed homes. In addition there was strong support for our proposal to provide a replacement for Alma House in Phase One. We are now analysing all the comments suggestions made in more detail and will consider whether further amendments to the plans are required.”
A Freephone Enquiry line has also been set up and residents and interested parties can call 0800 258 0459 with any queries they have.
